    Our strength and conditioning program is a comprehensive athlete development training system created by 20-year strength and conditioning veteran, Brian Fitzmaurice, CSCS. With a proven track record of success since our inception in 2000, we have established a reputation for developing some of St. Louis’ and the nation’s top athletes. We have extensive experience developing athletes that have excelled at the high school, college and professional ranks that started training with us at the youth level. Our strength and conditioning program is geared towards serious athletes that are committed to year-round training for long-term athlete development.

    What is Athlete Development?

    Athlete development is the process by which an athlete progressively improves their skill and overall athletic abilities (physical and mental) to prepare for the increasing demands of sports competition. The process of athlete development is a year-round approach that requires serious athletes to commit to skill training, sports performance training (strength and conditioning), healthy nutrition habits, and mindset development. An athlete’s level of commitment will determine both the rate of their progress and long-term achievement on the field and court. We believe success leaves tracks. The athletes that we have trained over the years that emerged as leaders in their sport were committed to year-round skill practice and our strength and conditioning program.

    The Sport Season determines the Strength and Conditioning Phase

    With year round strength and conditioning, the season that an athlete is in will determine the type, frequency, volume, intensity and duration of training. For the multi sport athlete there are several other considerations. The primary seasons/phases of training for athletes are: off-season, pre-season, and in-season.

    Off-Season Strength and Conditioning

    During the off-season phase an athlete should focus on achieving the greatest progress in a strength and conditioning program and prepare to make an impact during the season. During this phase we focus on all aspects of athlete development and sports performance such as muscle hypertrophy, fat metabolism, pre-hab (injury prevention), strength and stability, conditioning, mobility and flexibility, balance and coordination, speed/agility/quickness, power, core stability and power, mindset, attitude, belief, goals, commitment, discipline, toughness, effort and grit. During the off-season the training frequency, intensity and duration should be at the highest of the year since the demands of sports practice and competition are reduced. Training Session Length: 1.5-2 hours each Recommended Training Frequency: 2-4 sessions per week

    Pre-Season Strength and Conditioning

    During the pre-season phase an athlete should focus on progressing towards peak mental and physical condition ready for the increased demands of practice, scrimmages and the season ahead. During this phase, like the off-season phase, we continue to work on all aspects of athlete development and sports performance. The main difference is we will modify the training type, volume and intensity according to the athlete’s increased volume of practice and play. Training Session Length: 1.5 hours each Recommended Training Frequency: 2-3 sessions per week

    In-Season Strength and Conditioning

    During the in-season phase an athlete should focus on maintaining the progress built in the off-season, and using pro-active methods to promote faster recovery and prevent injury during competition. Research has shown that the progress an athlete achieves during the off-season will begin to decline as soon as 2-4 weeks without a pro-active in-season program. For this reason, athletes that commit to an in-season program perform at higher levels with less injury during the season. Also, adherence to an in-season program is imperative for long-term athlete development. During this phase we focus on recovery stretching, corrective exercise, self-myofascial release: “rolling” (foam rolls, Muscletrac, balls), and maintenance strength training. Training Session Length: 1 hour Recommended Training Frequency: 1-2 sessions per week

    PROGRAM OPTIONS: 

    OPTION 1: PRIVATE 1-ON-1 TRAINING-60 MIN. For athletes that prefer private instruction and coaching or have specialized requirements such as post-rehab training, specific injury limitations or etc.  (scheduled by appointment)

    OPTION 2: SEMI-PRIVATE SMALL GROUP TRAINING-60 MIN. (2-5 athletes per coach) For athletes that prefer more private instruction and coaching with a lower program cost than private training. *Participants recruit and organize a small group of friends or teammates to train with of the same sport, goals and age. (Scheduled by appointment)

    OPTION 3: INDIVIDUALIZED GROUP TRAINING -90 MIN. (8-12 athletes per coach) Each 90 minute group training session is individualized according to an athlete's age, level, sport and goals. See schedule below for available training times. *3 Month Minimal Commitment

    Many know us from our reputation for developing emerging youth and top elite athletes. But did you know since we started in 2000 we also offer 1-on-1 personal training, group training and wellness programs for adults? For our adult training, we use the same productive training methods we use with our athletes (modified to your level) to help you move, look and feel your best. We train clients with a variety of goals such as recreational athletics/competitions, general health and fitness, weight loss/body transformation, post-rehab/special needs, corrective exercise, strength and conditioning, mobility/flexibility and more. Our focus with our adult programs is to help you get stronger, leaner and feeling your best with the right combination of exercise and healthy balanced nutrition.

    During the consultation we will talk to you about your background, experiences and learn more about your personal health and fitness goals. With this information in mind, we will guide you through our training program options that may fit you best. Depending on your goals this may include 1-on-1 personal training, individualized group training or an exercise and nutrition program design with a monthly coaching meeting.

    Once you decide the program that fits you best we will take you through an assessment to learn more about your body and to create a baseline for progress. This assessment may include screening and testing for posture, flexibility and movement, strength, balance, endurance, body composition measurements and more.

With a passion for developing youth athletes, numerous athletes under his direction have received the highest rankings by Rivals, ESPN, Scout, and Sports Illustrated; and were recruited by top universities and programs across the country. Brian has been featured on the Fox News Morning Show, NBC-KSDK St.Louis News Channel 5, in The St.Louis Post Dispatch, Ladue News, West News, St.Louis Business Journal, and many others media sources. Brian is committed to helping people set goals, take action and reach their potential in sport and life. Dr. Dave Fitzmaurice, DC, CCSP

Sports Chiropractor, Dr. David Fitzmaurice draws on over 30 years of extensive professional training and personal experience (eliminating pain and improving performance) treating athletes at all levels. As a sports medicine specialist, Dr. Fitzmaurice focuses on biomechanics and advanced neuromuscular therapy. He has been the treating physician for Hall of Fame and Olympic athletes as well as professional athletes in the MLB, NFL, and NHL. In addition, Dr. Fitzmaurice has treated elite professional and amateur athletes including golfers, gymnasts, marathoners and ultra-marathoners, mixed martial artists and triathletes.

Dr. Fitzmaurice practiced in St. Louis for over 20 years, treating many of St. Louis’ elite and professional athletes, before moving to Arizona in 1999. While In Arizona he treated the regular blend of patients and athletes. The favorable climate for training in Tucson led him to work with many elite and professional cyclists, endurance athletes, and some of the top triathletes in the world. In 2012, Dr. Fitzmaurice returned to St. Louis to be closer to his family, as well as bring his unique approach to treatment back to the area.

He blends years of study of many advanced neuromuscular techniques with years of wisdom to find an answer for your problem. Dr. Fitzmaurice has experience working with orthopedists, physiatrists, physical therapists, neurosurgeons and other professionals, and understands all areas of expertise and approaches. Dr. Fitzmaurice’s emphasis is on the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system. He uses an integrative approach when treating pain and dysfunction in the joints and soft tissue of the body. This system is the way we engage in our environment through work, play, sports, and hobbies. It gives us shape and stability, and allows movement in our bodies. It is the greatest energy user in our bodies and is one of the primary sources of pain, discomfort, and disability.

In his patient-centered approach, Dr. Fitzmaurice strives to make improvements as quickly as possible. Each treatment is specific to the patient and the problem using a blend of joint and extremity mobilization with cutting edge, soft tissue therapy. As patients improve he helps them set goals for their bodies and activity levels. His treatment protocol is extremely useful to identify and eliminate the barriers to physical performance and promote sports enhancement, as well as maintenance and injury rehabilitation. To him, the glass is always half-full, not half-empty. He wants patients to look at their potential for improvement as many of his patients have seen numerous doctors and received other care before seeing him.

In addition to running his practice, Dr. Fitzmaurice invented a performance therapy tool that athletes could use 24/7 to evaluate and treat soft tissue (myofascial) dysfunction. The result was the Muscletrac®. The Muscletrac® family of products is either trainer-directed or athlete-directed self-myofascial release tools. Athletes can quickly navigate the muscle and feel the trigger points and tight muscles and fascia. It is based on tissue penetration rather than compression. It quickly locates and eliminates superficial and deep myofascial restrictions such as muscle/fascial tightness, muscle knots, trigger points, and adhesions that produce pain and tightness, effect biomechanics/alignment, decrease muscle output and that can lead to injury. The versatile Muscletrac® is used for pre-training warm-up, post-training recovery, and regeneration. The Muscletrac® is used by members of the U.S. Olympic team, professional athletes in the MLB, NBA, and NFL, and is presently used by athletes throughout sports around the world.

Sally Drake is a USAT Level II Certified and Ironman U Certified Triathlon Coach. Sally enjoys coaching triathletes of all levels from newbie to elite, with a passion for helping them achieve or exceed their goals. She specializes in ultra-endurance, much through her experience in completing 13 full Ironman triathlons. Sally also believes in guiding athletes to find balance in training and family life and customizes her clients’ training schedules as needed to maintain this balance.
